| Comments so far..... This book is brutally honest ! It's almost like reading a private diary. The author isn't quite what I expected from a male stripper - university educated and a successful business career behind him before he began stripping for a living. Whilst the book does openly discuss the `sexploits' of a stripper, it is surprisingly thoughtful and analytical. It delves into the psychology of the broken people that seem to litter the business. The author doesn't spare himself from his own analysis. This book is overflowing with opinion, a lot of it controversial but always backed up through his experience. I suspect some people will find aspects of it uncomfortable because they may identify within it elements of themselves that they are not keen on. Personally, I loved it. This guy has balls and isn't afraid to show them ! Lisa Hearn -Amazon Reviewer This book proved to be more than I was expecting. Well written, intelligent, provocative and entertaining it is an exploration of the life of a male stripper who's been blessed (or cursed maybe) with more than a pretty face, a good body and a big cock. He's also got a brain. Which he's not afraid to use. Candid, revealing, and brutally honest Nick Molloy shines a light on to the reasons why he left a "normal" career and kind of dropped out to follow an unorthodox career path, alienating family along the way. I found myself being moved by the recollections of a friendless childhood and engaged by the intellectual exploration of what makes a man stand on a stage and strip himself bare. And the costs to personal relationships along the way. All in all a well written, honest, frank and entertaining read. Play.com Reviewer In his bare all autobiography, Nick reveals all the various facets of the male stripper world. He invites one with his comfortable warm friendliness which one would not expect from a male stripper. Though his stage persona may not portray it, Nick is a humble, smart, kind man who has learned form the hard knocks in life whom to trust and to believe in one's own instincts. Nick is an equal opportunity stripper...that is he strips for women as well as for gay men. It is refreshing to meet a straight man who is so comfortable with himself and his sexuality that he will bare all for gay men and also is accepting of the gay lifestyle. His sociological viewpoints on the interactions of male strippers among themselves and their audiences is very interesting and almost shocking in some instances. What happens to women when they are in a group when they become the voyeurs. How does the gay male audience differ and how would they compare to a heterosexual male audience watching a woman strip? We learn of the psyche and differences between heterosexual women and gay men. Nick writes as if he is speaking to us personally drawing us into him...much as I would expect he does on stage. I feel as though he is my friend and I want to know him better. I hope someday to view him onstage. It would be an honour. The only negative I would have to complain about is that there is NOT an enclosed dvd of his performance. Oh well...one can dream can't they? There are pictures which would be lovely framed! Thank you Nick! Markku from Finland - Amazon Reviewer Author Nick Molloy's book on his life as a male stripper is excellent! I feel like I know the author after reading his book although we have never met. The book feels very intimate as you read it. It is clear that the book is very honest about everything in Molloy's life. He shares opinions on a wide variety of subjects and tells the story of his whole life, not just his stripping career, although his career is clearly the main topic of the book. Everything is there, too -- both the positive and the negative aspects of his life. There is a section of photographs of Molloy in his performing gear, as well as the cover images of the author. There is much more to Nick Molloy than meets the eye! The book is intelligent, uses humor and is serious in other places, well written, and the best book of its kind for an inside look at a male stripper's life. Note to American buyers: I live in the US. This book arrived as quickly as any other books I have ordered from Amazon in the US. British English uses some phrases and words differently than American English, but you'll know what the author means because he tells his life very well here. If you watch BBC America, you'll definitely know the meanings of the few phrases that differ in our common language. J. Dobbins (Illinois, USA) - Amazon Reviewer I bought my copy from the author at one of his shows. I was expecting something slightly less cerebral and I can now say that he writes as well as he strips. His dry wit probably won't be universally appreciated. I guess this is the kind of book you will either love or hate. I loved the candid forth righteousness and the underlying theme of equality and meritocracy for all. This book delivers more than just a cock for hire and leaves a lot of room for thought. Highly recommended. Rachel Tompson - Amazon Reviewer |
